Every time you meet someone, whether it's at a networking event or not, you can decide if there is potential to help one another later on.  It's important to list all of the places that you routinely meet others for networking purposes.  Examples include:
  • Networking events, socials
  • Chamber of Commerce
  • Rotary Clubs
  • Volunteer associations
  • Networking Groups (AmSpirit Business Connections, BNI,
    LeTip, etc.)
Begin listing the names of the people you meet at these places.  By entering their name into the system, you have now captured valuable information about them.  Things like:
  • The place where you met (chamber of commerce, rotary group, networking group, etc.)
  • Who introduced you?
  • The business category of the person (attorney, landscaper, etc.) and all their contact information
Track
Once you have entered places and people, you can begin to identify those that either you could help or they could help you with referrals.  Go to lunch, set up a meeting, follow up with those that could benefit from networking with you.
Enter any referral you give or receive into the system so that all business is tracked between you and those that are entered into Referral Metrics

Reports are available to you in Referral Metrics that will give you valuable
insights like:
  • Where should I spend the majority of my networking time to meet the most people?
  • Who are my top
    referral partners?
  • Am I networking enough?  Am I giving enough referrals?
  • Set goals for yourself and track your progress against
    those goals.
  • Find out the Return on Investment for any networking groups that charge membership.  Did you receive more value out of the group than what you put into the group?
